My name is Morgan and I’m a resident of South Philly looking to start a community garden in my neighborhood this planting season. I live in the East Passyunk area of South Philly, and I’m still searching for the perfect lot in this area to begin a community-centered gardening project. I’m a novice gardener but did spend some time volunteering at a community garden in West Philly last year, but I dream of living in a city where previously blighted lots are transformed into community ran green spaces that become hubs providing healthy food, space for connecting, among other resources to residents living in proximity to these spaces. I know most of you have similar ideas and goals, and I’d love to connect with you all so we can support each other and make these dreams realities 🙂 my email is momosarao8@gmail.com if anyone wants to reach out!
Hello there, Morgan, and welcome! The Spring season is around the corner, and you can find some Community Gardens here. I also would recommend reaching out to the Passyunk Square Civic Association or the community garden that’s in Capitolo Park, both have some well-established plots.
I’ll add the Philadelphia Land Bank, if you were interested in land, have begun selling off some lots finally. You may need to connect with more folks in the neighborhood!
